Eating Vegan in El Salvador

There comes a point on every Central American travelers way, when beans, rice and tortilla become obsolete. When your taste buds and your stomach will no longer accept this food pyramid as a viable, or interesting way to fulfill their cravings. La Tortuga Verde is always looking for new and innovative ways to make life for travelers more fun, exciting, different, and eclectic. This time we are doing it through your mouth.

Here at our beachside hotel/hostel in El Cuco, El Salvador we are hosting a weekly vegan meal. Making vegan eating in El Salvador accessible and fun. Not only are we offering healthy food in Central America we are creating a family style environment that celebrates people getting together and enjoying fresh food and good company. Our meals have consisted of a wide variety with everything from spring rolls to falafel. No two weeks are the same and you’ll always leave feeling fresh and energized!

Here are photos from our Pad Thai night at La Tortuga Verde. We locally source a lot of the food for our vegan meals in El Salvador. Our pad thai rice noodles were made in San Salvador from our friends at Take a Wok, another great stop for vegetarian food in El Salvador. Lemon grass tea comes from the La Tortuga Verde Garden and mangoes for our delicious raw mango pie drip like rain during the wet season from the luscious mango trees all over the La Tortuga Verde property.
